As parent it seems like days consists of nothing but chores. Having to run errands all around town including picking up and dropping off the kids, taking care of finances and finally making sure everyone gets fed amongst all the chaos. With all the madness you may have to resort to a frozen meal or two every once in awhile. We’ve all done it! But despite the craziness of everyday life you as a parent want your child to eat well and get the nutrition they need. However most of the time you don’t have the ability to sit by your child as they eat and make sure they finish every bite of their vegetables at every meal. Currently childhood obesity is at an all time high with over 20% of children in the overweight category. Childhood Obesity also known to cause illnesses such as Type 2 diabetes, Insulin resistance, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, and liver disease. But there doesn’t need to be all doom when it comes to your child’s nutrition. You can help your child eat better by taking a few simple steps.
The goal is to make changes in your child’s eating habits not put them on a diet. A simple step could be to start every meal off with a fresh salad or adding a side dish of fresh steamed veggies. Making this a daily routine will help incorporate vegetables in your child’s everyday eating habits. Vegetables not on your child’s list of favorite foods then try steps to cooking lighter. Instead of using butter or oil use a low calorie substitute. Also a great way to help with your child’s nutrition is to cut down on soda intake. At the dinner table have things like water, milk and fresh juices instead. This will bring necessary nutrients while also cutting out the high levels of sugar and calories that are contained in soda. Finally at the end of dinner rather than serve a dessert of ice cream, cake and pudding try switching things up with some fresh fruit. Sliced watermelon, strawberries, pineapple and oranges are just a few ideas to help incorporate fruits into your child’s eating habits as well.
One unique way to encourage your children to eat healthier is to show them through their toys. As parents it seems that with children play always imitates life. KENNY ROGERS ROASTERS is a chicken restaurant that was started in 1991 in the United States by Country music legend Kenny Rogers.
By 1995 the menu had expanded to include Kenny Rogers Roasters chicken, made in wood-fire rotisserie, as well as fresh-made side dishes, rotisserie turkey breast, honey-bourbon barbecue ribs, pita sandwiches, soups and salads. Other popular items included Miami Subs, their incredible Kenny Rogers Fire-And-Ice Chili and their vanilla muffins.
Although the restaurant chain lost fans in Kenny’s homeland, there are still hundreds of popular much-loved Kenny Rogers Roasters open around the world, where Kenny’s music also remains popular.
You’ll find them in the Asia Pacific Region, namely in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei and China. Kenny Rogers Roasters also has development agreements for the Middle East, which include Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus and Jordan. –Kenny Rogers Roasted Chicken–
1 whole chicken
1/2 cup rock salt
2 tablespoons calamansi juice
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup corn oil
2 tablespoons chili catsup
2 teaspoons well-pounded garlic
1/2 teaspoon pepper mill grind black pepper
1/4 teaspoon mustard
Directions:
Rub the chicken with rock salt. Rinse and pat dry. Place the chicken in a bowl.
Add the rest of the ingredients and let stand in the refrigerator for at least 8 – 24 hours.
Cook slowly, basting with the remaining marinade from time to time.
>> If you don’t have a chicken rotisserie, it’s actually worth getting one. The electric ones don’t cost that much – and the result is healthy and downright delicious. However, you can certainly still cook ‘er up proud in the oven! Either way, you’re going to get the best old timey Country Cooking can provide
–Kenny Rogers Roasters BBQ Sauce–
1 cup Applesauce
1/2 cup Heinz ketchup
1 1/4 cups Light brown sugar, packed
6 tablespoons Lemon juice
Salt and pepper
1/2 teaspoon Paprika
1/2 teaspoon Garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon.
Directions:
In heavy saucepan bring mixture to boil.
Stir constantly about 4 to 5 minutes. Turn heat to low and continue to stir (about 3 to 5 minutes) making sure sugar is completely dissolved.
Allow to cook without stirring for 15 minutes on lowest possible heat, uncovered. Transfer to top of double boiler over simmering water if to be used as a basting sauce for ribs or chicken during baking; or cool sauce and refrigerate covered to use in 30 days.
This BBQ Sauce freezes well.
–Kenny Rogers Corn Muffins–
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon Grey Poupon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon ketchup
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
2 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon concentrated hickory liquid smoke flavoring
1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon water.
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Cream together butter, sugar, honey, eggs and salt in a large bowl. Add flour, cornmeal and baking powder and blend thoroughly. Add milk while mixing. Add corn to mixture and combine by hand until corn is worked in.
Grease a 12-cup muffin pan and fill each cup with batter.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until muffins begin to turn brown on top.

–Kenny Rogers Fire-And-Ice Chili–
1 20-ounce can pineapple chunks in syrup
2 pounds lean boneless pork roast cut into 1-inch cubes
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium yellow onion chopped (1/2 cup)
1 clove garlic minced
1 28-ounce can tomatoes cut up
1 6-ounce can tomato paste
1 4-ounce can diced green chili peppers drained
1 green pepper chopped 3/4 cup)
1 medium yellow onion chopped (1/2 cup)
2 cloves garlic minced
1/4 cup chili powder
4 teaspoons ground cumin
1 to 3 tablespoons seeded and finely chopped jalapeno pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
Chili toppers: sliced onions, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese.
Directions:
1. Drain pineapple, reserving syrup.
2. In a Dutch oven, cook pork, half at a time, in hot olive oil till brown. Return all the meat to the pot. Add the first chopped onion and 1 clove garlic. Cook over medium heat till onion is tender, stirring occasionally.
3. Add the reserved pineapple syrup, undrained tomatoes, tomato paste, green chili peppers, the green pepper, 1 onion, 2 cloves garlic, chili powder, cumin, jalapeno pepper and salt.
4. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer the chili for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add the pineapple chunks. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes more.
5. Let diners add their own toppers. Makes 8 to 10 servings. Note: To increase the spiciness of the chili, add 2 more tablespoons of the jalapeno pepper.
–Kenny Rogers Vanilla Muffins–
125g butter
80g sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 eggs
125g flour
2 tbsp milk
50g buttercream
Directions:
1. Cream the butter and sugar till white as the night.
2. Add in the eggs one by one and beat it like you mean it. 3. Sift the flour and fold it in slowly (quite using the beater).
4. Blend in the milk.
5. Add in the buttercream.

Ice Cream Craze: Tycoon Takeover is the sequel to the original Ice Cream Craze that made time management games cool (heh). Help Anna grow her business from an old ice cream truck into a force to challenge the well-established ice cream tycoon BigCo.
In the original Ice Cream Craze, you helped a teenager in the 1950’s called Jan run her parents’ ice cream shop. Now, it’s 2 decades later, and you find out that her shop was run out of business by a giant company called BigCo. You now play the part of Anna, Jan’s granddaughter. Anna believes that she can compete against BigCo, and starts off by serving ice cream out of an old ice cream truck. Granny Jan is also there to give advice along the way.
The overall goal of the game is to grow Anna’s business large enough to challenge BigCo. You do that by having over $5000 in the bank and significant busines presence in all 9 locations in town. How you go about this is what makes the game stand out from other time management games and presents a fresh new perspective.
The main part of Ice Cream Craze: Tycoon Takeover is the actual serving of ice cream to customers at the ice cream truck. This starts off pretty easy at first, with just cones, 3 flavors of ice cream and 3 toppings to choose from. But depending on each level’s difficulty, you might end up having to juggle cones, brownies and pies, and all sorts of flavors and toppings.
The difficulty of each level depends on which part of town you are in and what you are playing for. And this is where the game stands out from other time management games. In other games, you get to buy upgrades in between games. In this game however, the upgrades are rewards in completing specific levels. So you will need to decide whether you want to play for an espresso machine that gives you temporary speed boosts, or a cupcake platter that keeps your customers satisfied for longer.
The game isn’t just a linear series of levels as well. The gameplay is separated by days, and what you decide to do each day has a huge impact on how successful your ice cream business will be. Wiill you spend Day 9 trying to earn the espresso machine? Or should you instead be trying to set up a new stall at the circus in order to earn you continuous side income every day? Setting up new stalls might be a good idea, but if you don’t go for efficiency upgrades, you might find some of the more advanced levels a bit hard to cope with.
It is this overarching strategy that gives the game much of its appeal and will keep you coming back for more even after you’ve finished the game. Do you want to play like a businessman and quickly establish bases all over town? Or would you rather increase the efficiency of your ice cream service and earn big bucks every day?
The look and feel of the game isn’t too bad either. There aren’t any flashy movies or cool animations, but the graphics in the game are pleasant and definitely capture the feel of an ice cream business. However, one thing that bothers me is the abnormally big eyes that the characters have. They just creep me out…
Ice Cream Craze 2 is a great game to try, not only because it contains a really good time management aspect, but also revolves around a very fun and delicious business. Furthermore, the overall strategic and business decisions you have to make in this game give it a unique feel that is different from the other time management games out there.

What began long ago as a simple iced concoction has now developed into one of the world’s most popular types of dessert: ice cream. Whether it’s the fanciest flavors from the local ice cream shops or the homemade ice cream recipes from grandma’s kitchen, it seems like everyone has a favorite ice cream flavor of some sort. There are a lot of things to like about ice cream, including its soft and creamy texture and its uncanny ability to cool down a sizzling summer day. Read on to learn more about ice cream, including its history and the different types of ice cream that can be found around the world.
The history of ice cream
Though millions of people love this sweet, frozen dessert, not very many people know about its long history. What is known today as ice cream originated from the idea to combine ice and fruits. In the first century, Emperor Nero of the Roman Empire would enjoy having ice topped with fruits, honey, and nuts. During the fourth century, Greeks would top ice with honey and fruits, selling the concoctions in the markets. The addition of milk came during the seventh century. It was King Tang, who ruled Shang, China during the seventh century, who would have the earliest records of combining milk and ice for various mixtures. It was not until the 16th and 17th centuries that flavored ices, now known as sorbets, would gain fame around the world.
In the 18th century, America and England published the earliest recipes for “ice cream.” Since being introduced to America and England, many people have made contributions to how ice cream is made. Different ice cream flavors began popping-up all around the world and many countries had their own, unique version of the frozen sweet treat. The invention of refrigeration during the mid-20th century meant that ice cream and other perishable goods could be kept for longer. Refrigerators, ice boxes, and freezers served as catalysts to the ice cream market. Soon, ice cream companies and ice cream shops, also known as parlors, would become a regular site in cities around the world. Today, thousands of ice cream flavors exist and the many different desserts that ice cream is used in surely help to add to the mix of ice cream products out there.
Some types of ice cream from around the world
Gelato – The gelato is one of the world’s most famous types of ice cream. This soft, frozen Italian dessert is a lot more dense and flavorful than other types of ice cream, because it has a lot less air than normal ice cream.
Mochi – Mochi is a popular ice cream dessert that comes from Japan. These desserts usually come in the form of a small sphere with ice cream in the middle, and a shell that is similar to dough in texture.
Kulfi – This ice cream dessert comes from India and Pakistan, and it is unique from other ice creams in that it is not whipped, making it much more dense and rich than other ice creams.
Sorbetes – The Philippines’ own sorbetes is a light ice cream that is commonly sold by a man peddling a cart through the streets. The dessert is lovingly called “dirty ice cream”, because of the fact that the ice cream is sold from a peddle cart roaming the polluted streets. Sorbetes are normally served in a cone, but they are also eaten as filling for bread buns – quite literally an ice cream sandwich.
